What is Office 365?
Office 365 is the further development of the established Office package and includes the traditional products Word, Excel and PowerPoint. And that’s not all: Office 365 offers additional products that provide support in daily work.
When Microsoft made the Office package available a few years ago, it was the solution for companies – a software product for writing business letters, generating calculations and analyses, and creating presentations.
Over the course of time, the classic office package was extended more and more. New products and functions were added. This made the daily work routine of companies much easier. Today, communication, collaboration, team organisation, automation and mobility are just a few of the software requirements of a modern office – and that's exactly what Office 365 does. The already well-known portfolio has been extended by products such as Yammer, Stream, Sway, Flow and Teams.
Office 365 is a comprehensive cloud solution. A small example: If you wanted to exchange a document with the old Office package, you sent it as an e-mail attachment. To avoid unnecessary copies with different versions, a file server was usually used within the local network. The advantage: There was only one file that didn't have to be sent by e-mail. Today, however, documents are stored in the Office 365 cloud. In the cloud, several people can work on one document at the same time. This greatly simplifies cooperation.
The great advantage of Office 365 is that there is no need to perform maintenance or to set up a complex system. Likewise, no time-consuming data backups are necessary – because Microsoft takes care of it all. The user can concentrate on his core tasks.
